Awesome battery Life

I've just finished Endure 24 using the 935. I did 40 miles in about 5.5 hours and the 935 coped easily. I did it in 6 single laps of 5 miles and one double lap so the watch was in and out of LPM, had to reacquire satellites etc which can't be conducive to good battery life. I left all the settings as-is, 1 sec recording, GPS only, BLE on (syncing with iPhone whenever I was back at the tent). I started with 93% or so and I'm still on 27%. Looks like the 935 has me covered for anything I need as I don't plan on going longer that this!

To clarify, are your guys' battery life quotes using oHR? I've had my watch since it launched and I've had <10 hours battery life with GPS+Glonass+oHR basically the whole time. It's been getting worse as of late and I'm not sure if it's my watch or I'm just having unreal expectations.
  • Used optical heart rate for the 3-day but chest strap for the one day. Glonass off. Maybe that’s the difference. Do you need Glonass?

I actually just double checked, GLONASS is actually off. I saw things about backlight, but that's only set to 20% (I dropped it to 10% to be sure).

I guess the next safe bet would be to hard reset it. Just don't want to have to re-setup fields and such.
  • Sounds like something is wrong...

Using OHR, gps only, brightness at 10% (8sec timeout, gesture only) I get about 20hrs of activity time. So less then 10 is subpar (especially considering the fact I mostly read about ppl also getting up to and over 20-ish hours).

Any weird CIQ/custom datafields you are using during activities which (also) might have an influence?

Actually no CIQ or custom fields. Just customized a couple screens using default fields.

Well, I went ahead and completely reset the watch. I figure if I end up having to contact support, that will be the first thing they have me do.

Yeah, usually the first (and only) suggestion they give... that and 'update to the latest sw'. But hopefully it works for you!
  • mtb data field, all defaults except: bt sync, gps-only, i go from 100% to 30% in 13h. In ultratrac though it works faaaaar longer.

in idle with bt sync & notifications i can never remember the last time i charged the watch. im at 34% right now and do about 50min of GPS tracking every day.. i think i charged about 2 weeks ago.

certainly am happy with battery life here

Support claims there is a known bug with version 8.0.0.0 that causes excessive battery drain -- but they are replacing the watch anyways. It's been going on for a lot longer than FW 8.0 for me, so hopefully this fixes it (I can't imagine how it wouldn't).

But clearly not on all devices under all circumstances. So, what is the real issue?
