I had to buy a new phone today because my old Samsung S5 broke. :( Went for a Samsung J3. However I can't seem to connect my Forerunner 935 via the garmin connect app. Any idea what the problem could be??
Presume it is not still connected to the other one?
You could try removing the connection from the app and any BLE connections in the Bluetooth section (or whatever it is called on Android phones), power cycle both phone and app and try again.
Oh! The watch cannot pair to more than one phone at the same time?!?!
Okay, I removed the watch from the paired devices on the old phone garmin app. But it still does not seem to be working. Is there anything else I need to do?
FYI: very incapable user here. please keep tech explanations to grandma-level - what is power-cycle? :p :o
If I try to connect via Bluetooth there is always the message "unable to communicate with forerunner 935". With my friends phone (oneplus 3) everything works just fine.
Makes me very worried that the Samsung J3 might not be compatible??? :/ would be strange as it's a very recent phone. It's not on the list for compatible devices by garmin, however the J5 is NOT compatible with forerunner 935... :s
The Samsung J3 is an OK phone. I had one for a while, and it connected with my fenix 3 just fine. the problem I had was that it constantly disconnected, and I had to power cycle the phone to get it reconnected. I don't recall any issues getting it connected. I would unpair any phones on your watch, delete any watches in the bluetooth section of your phone, and delete any watches in Garmin Connect on your phone. power cycle both the watch and phone. Once both are back up and running, try and pair your watch through the Carmin Connect app (not the phones bluetooth). Just a note: I also had my fenix 3 paired with a budget Samsung tablet with the same constant disconnects. Got tired of it and got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I have not had a single issue where the watch has disconnected except when I walk out of range, but it always reconnects when back near the phone.
I had the same connection issues with a Samsung Galaxy C5. It would lose connection and required a restart to reconnect. The C5 locked up a few weeks back and required help from Samsung customer services to get it working again. Since Samsung reset the phone (Re-installed the OS), the connection has been rock solid.
Damn... This is so annoying!! The J3 and the 935 just wont communicate  Very strange that the fenix 3 works?! Although I saw in the garmin-android device compatibility list that there are phones compatible with the fenix 3 but not with the 935... :s
So I disconnected the watch from my old phone's garmin connect app, restarted all devices, opened garmin connect app in the new phone, put watch in pairing mode, and select the 935 in the app. On the watch it keeps saying "go to mobile app to add device", and in the app it says "connecting your forerunner 935" with an image of the watch and status bar at the bottom "completing setup of your forerunner 935 device", but simply nothing happens. Stays like this forever. Even tried de- and reinstaling the app. With the other phone it works immediately... :(
Dog pooh, really don't know what the problem is. Only explanation I have is they are not compatible... :(
