Music controls

I have the music widget set in my Run activity, but when I scroll to it only the song information is displayed. I have to then long-press Up key, which brings me to Music Controls. Then I press the select button (Start/Stop) which brings me to all of the music controls (pause, forward, volume, etc.). I have an iPhone 7. Is this what other iphone users have to do? It seems that as soon as I scroll to the Music widget from with the Run activity, the screen that is displayed should already have all of the controls displayed.

Thanks to any who can offer clarification.
  • Yeah, unfortunately the 935 doesn't have enough buttons <_< to trigger any context-specific actions on an activity page without long-pressing Up. Just like you can't pan/zoom the map during an activity without long-pressing Up.

The problem is they don't want the music controls to be automatically selectable through Up/Down/Start once you switch to that page, because then how do you get out? The only way would be to press Back, which would be confusing. They want Up/Down to always switch between data pages during an activity, unless you pause the activity or long-press Up to get settings/context-specific actions.

I'm guessing on a touchscreen device like a 630 it might be different (I never used music controls during a run on the 630, though.). Too bad the touchscreen on the 630 was terrible.

I would've loved to see a watch that supports interaction with both a touchscreen and/or physical buttons, to get the best of both worlds. (I think Suunto tried this; have no idea if it was any good.)
  • I concur, this is what I have to do. As you say, it's not the easiest, but it works.
