Third party quick-connect bands

Well, it was a matter of time but here they are...

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Replacement-Silicagel-Fast-Install-Band-Watch-Strap-For-Garmin-Fenix-5-GPS-Watch-/201935426415?var=&hash=item2f044a136f:m:mCIkDLhdVYOlP22GiET-aOw

I ordered 2 to give them a try (blue and yellow). After ordering the official black and leather one (which still isn't delivered) I couldn't make myself spend another 100 euros for another 2.

10 euros is more like it (***, if the official ones were around 30 it would already be less of an issue). Anyway, just in case anyone wants to give it a shot ;)
  • Leather versions ?

Actually talking of leather I think I saw some on AE, not sure if they're QFb though, they seemed cheap, around $15, will go check!

    EDIT - yes, no QF

any other accessory needed to use these?

Am I correct to assume that to use a quick fit type band on stock 935, I will need a quick fit compatible pin separately? Or do these bands just fit the pin already on the watch which the stock band is fitted into? I am also assuming the bands on ebay / AE are just bands, with no pin / screwdriver accessory
  • no need for a different pin. They clip right on to the stock 935 pin.
  • The bands from AliExpress don't seem to have this thick material around the quick fit lock. Hope that they will adapt better to the wrist as the Garmin bands.
  • Does anyone who bought the AliExpress or amazon bands got them in the mean time ? I! Would appreciate a little review and some picture.
Because I!d like to buy 3 different one (black, blue and orange to match my mud ;)).
    Thanks,
    Olivier
  • here you go : https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?375359-Third-Party-Bands

I ordered some of them on ebay this week, we'll see :) I already have an original one
  • no need for a different pin. They clip right on to the stock 935 pin.

What type/size of tool do I need to remove the original pin?
  • A Torx 5 screwdriver, well two actually ! They come with the $2 F3 straps ;-)
  • Well, just received my yellow/green band today and I'm quite happy with it!

The silicon/rubber is more flexible then the stock band, which is a bit more rugged. No biggie for me, but the stock on is tougher in that aspect. Also no torx-screwdrivers with the chinese quickband (while the cheap normal bands do have them and also the garmin official quickband is delivered with 2 torx screwdrivers).

They fit perfectly fine though and at first sight you'd have a hard time seeing it's a knockoff. No torxscrews in the clip and the thinner rubber are signs, but no issue here. I have no issue whatsoever using this for daily wear and running, though I can imagine you'd think again when deep-sea-diving and doing extreme stuff (not based on impression, more based on 'you never know')

All in all, the garmin ones are way too expensive. These deliver all and more then you pay for imo... Now waiting for the blue one to arrive :)
  • Good to hear, any issues with the buckle digging into the wrist like the F5's rounded buckle and unlike the FR935's flat buckle?
