935 with Fenix 3 Band

I might be in the minority (no pun intended :p), but I don't like any of the new Garmin bands. I find the silicone uncomfortable and I think they look too thin for the size of the watch. After living with a well worn F3 band on the 935, I bought a new F3 band and installed it tonight.

And yes, my screen protector (made for the 735) is off center. Once enough screen protectors are out for the 935 I'll replace it.
  • That looks spectacular! Is there a difference in length between the original 935 band and the modified F3 one?
  • Certainly looks nice but do these "thicker" bands effect OHR performance?

The general reason Garmin supply "flexible" bands with these watches these days is that they are easier to get tighter which you generally need to try and ensure no light gets in between your wrist and the OHR sensor.

Then again I personally normally wear a HR strap so that allows you to wear the watch pretty much as you want of course.

    Wait, I thought the 935 was 22mm and the F3 was 26mm??

... that can be fixed with a stanley knife...

Indeed, but his pictures don't look like the band is cut (or perhaps it's just very difficult to tell).

No issues with the OHR. I've been using my older F3 strap for the last 2 weeks with no issues. Though the rubber is thicker and less flexible, it still works. There are 1-2 settings that work well and are comfortable with the rubber strap. With the silicone strap there were 2-3 settings that worked well. The rubber strap is also more secure with the bike mount and sits better on my wrist.

Thank you, must be my surgical skills. I used an 11 blade scalpel :D (and no I'm not a surgeon)
  • That looks super. Is that a Garmin branded strap?
  • A bit disappointed to see that trimmed F3 straps aren't quite as good a fit on the 935 as on the F5 where they were pretty much flush with the outer part of the lugs. Must come down to the shape. Unexpected since they share the same 22mm straps.

    F5 with F3 pics from the F5 forums :

Yes this is a band from the Fenix3

Are these the rubber or silicone bands? It's possible that they are slightly different then the default F3 band I ordered.
  • That's a generic silicone F3 band from Moko.
  • Have you put that band on a 935? 935Garmin vs Moko and Silicon vs Rubber could account for the differences.

I'm happy with the rubber band, but will be curious to see if there's any difference when you install this band on the 935
