This feature has been available on the 935 for a while now....
Hold UP during activity > Run Settings > lap key > off
Which firmware/region is your 935 on?
I know my old fenix 3 hr that I used to owned had an option within the activity settings called lap button that allows you to turn on or off the lap button. I'm surprise it's no longer available in the 935 or Fenix 5.
Also, Auto Lock really isn't a good option for me as I want access to the other keys such as the up and down to scrol thru data screens.
For sure. However, I can't speak for anyone else, but I get 10X dumber and more uncoordinated when I run, especially during the longer runs. :P It's rare for me to hit the wrong button, but I'm sure it will happen to me at least once every few months. If you know you'll never need the lap button for a given activity (say "Long Run" custom activity), some people might like to just disable it.
Interesting about the F5 functionality. Can anybody confirm it is actually there? If so that might be the first actual functionality difference we have found?
Thank you to whomever suggested that I wear the watch on the other wrist, that's a great idea, but I tried it and I just cannot get used to having it on my right wrist, having always worn watches on my left. It feels so odd that I just don't want to run like that.
Anyone know how to turn off the manual lap button on the 935?
just curious why this is not available in the newer versions of Fenix 5 and 935.
Of course, I had a similar problem with the 630 (infrequently), and Lap/Back aren't even the same button for that watch. ≥>.
So most or all of this problem is user error for sure, but that's the nice thing about having choices -- the ability to customize things to make up for our own shortcomings.
For the last several years I've been using watches with the same button layout (220/225/235/Fenix 3) but just yesterday evening for some reason I kept hitting the pause button instead of lap to start my next interval.
Sometimes brain wiring just isn't working that day.
I mentioned to Garmina about this functional difference with the lap button between the 935 and the F5 and they said were going to check.
