935 Crashed and now won't power on

I'm one of the lucky few in the UK to have a 935. Was really pleased with this watch however had 2 issues yesterday with 1 making my watch unusable.

Firstly when doing a pool swim the 935 stopped at 125m although the clock timer was ticking it was tracking distance and then froze for about 4 mins on 1 screen up/down would not work.

After this it was fine all day in the evening I added a Wifi in Garmin Express and it seem find battery was at around 80% but in night it switched off to never return.

I've tried power-cycling, tried charging with different usb plugs but it isn't responding to anything. At present it is being packaged up to return to Wiggle.

Is it 100% confirmed that no master reset option outside of the menus exists? What happens when this sort of issue occurs outside of warranty.

Anyone else having similar issues or have I just been unlucky.

  • Can you try this

Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears Non-Vol and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts etc. (takes the device back to defaults).

Hold the light button until the device prompts "Shut Down?".
    Select "Yes"
Hold the two right buttons, <Start/Stop> and <Back>, while turning the device on by pressing and releasing the light button.
Wait for an audible beep and release the <Start/Stop> button.
Wait for a second audible beep and release the <Back> button.
The non-vol clear was successful if the device finishes powering up and goes Setup Wizard page.

Do you get a "Shut Down?" prompt when you hold the light button? I don't. It just turns off after 15 seconds
  • If you keeping holding down the light button it should power off after 15 seconds as you say. If you press and hold the Light button briefly then you should get to the Controls Menu and Power Off is the default.

If you get your device stuck then best to turn off by holding down the power button until it does (should be in 15 secs) and then you can try the reset sequence above if a normal power on still fails.

Oh yes, I see what you mean now. Good to know about the reset.

    No Joy

Thanks for the different reset option but the watch does nothing at all. I've packaged up and sent back to Wiggle.

Let's hope no one else has this issue I'm quite surprise that I'm the only one it's almost as if the battery has depleted and the charger is not working at same time.

Just found this thread, as today my battery went on my 935 during a pool swim and now it won't charge it. It tried to charge, but has know completely gone and feels like something inside has burnt out as very warm. I've only had it since July so gutted, will be on its way back to wiggle too. Tried all type of resets but absolutely no response.

Today, mine stop working. I've reset and done all the other options stated by timgrose and still won't power up. Won't even charge. Packaging and returning mine to Amazon and I bought 3 year warranty.

I was on a Back Country trail run, off and on through snow, when weather turned south and I went to retrace my steps with my Garmin 935 watch that was nearly fully charged. It froze and I couldn't get it to unfreeze (restarting only gave me a blue triangle). Extreamly frusterating. I'll be sending this back to Garmin if I can't get it figured out through customer service in the coming days.

Same thing happened to me on Friday (6/1) - Any word from Garmin yet? I'm really frustrated with this. This is the 2nd hardware failure I've had with a 935 in the past 12 months!

EDIT: I tried the reset method mentioned above by TIMGROSE about 3 - 4 times. After that my watch finally turned back on in the "New Watch Setup Mode". I'll keep my Garmin support case open to see what they say.
