Quick Release

I dont think the quick release kit is out yet but does anyone know when it is attached if the ohr will be exposed? I am thinking yes but wanted to see if anyone happens to know.

Trading in my 735xt that I purchased a month ago to get this and grt the qr at a later time. I do like my 735 but the extra battery life and a few extras is worth the extra $50 compared to the 735
  • I thought I saw some drawings with the OHR exposed, but I could be imagining it. I'm guessing the QR Kit will also mean the OHR is held further from the skin which might affect readings. Still until we see it we can't say for sure!

  • any news on when the QR will be available?
  • Just got hold of the quick release now. As usual the QR makes the watch less than elegant on the wrist but it does feel a lot more comfortable than the ones on the 920 and 310 before it. Interesting mount but feels very securely retained. I think probably the most secure fitting yet. Time will tell no doubt. But it's back to looking like a sports watch now instead of a 'sort of' fashion statement LOL!
  • I use a QuickFit band coupled with the QR bike mount. You can then have a normal looking day to day watch but easily mount on the bike when you want to go for a ride.
  • Not sure how that combination would work for a triathlon, which is why I've always used the QR kit with my Garmins.
  • It would be slightly slower and you'd have to stash the bands somewhere, but we are talking a few seconds.
  • There we have it! Those few seconds could be the difference between 2nd last and last! LOL
  • just buy some new wheels, gears, bike, helmet to get them back ;-)

For a triathlon, if you care about those 3 seconds, you don't use the quick fit band and just do it like you always have with past QR kits. The beauty of this QR kit is it gives you options. I don't do tri's any more so transition isn't an issue for me but I love being able to in seconds remove the Quick Fit band and snap it on my bike for everyday rides, and then back afterwards. It's way more reliable than my 810 so I use it on every ride I don't need maps.
  • Have to say I agree with you about the design features of the QR kit. I might have a look at some QR bands later. Since I don't wear the watch as an everyday item, I'm not too fussed about the bulk of the QR kit. Certainly didn't notice it when running for the first time with it today.
