HR Broadcast During Activity - questions

Bit confused about how this works...

The manual is not too detailed : http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/forerunner935/EN-US/GUID-D8D363C2-0690-48D4-95E2-A3557E7D53C2.html

1. Do you just turn it on in Settings > Sensors > Wrist Heart Rate > Broadcast During Activity and then in any activity you can pick up the broadcast on another Ant+ device?
2. The manual talks about "You can view only the heart rate widget while broadcasting heart rate data." - but that doesn't seem to be the case during an Activity. You appear to get the full activity screens as normal - correct? Any limitations I have missed?
3. Manual again says:"NOTE: Broadcasting heart rate data decreases battery life." - but by how much? Anyone have any guidance on that...?

Cheers

Ian
  • You can also access the broadcast settings from the HR widget by pressing and holding the up arrow.

When broadcasting you will need to first pair the broadcasted HR as an external HRM on the target device. However once done it will remember for next time like a normal HR strap.

On 2 you can either just broadcast and the 935 essentially can do nothing other than show you the time and your HR. Broadcast during activity then the 935 is as normal but you will need to start the timer for it to continue to work.

Not tested battery drain specifically on a 935 but recall it not being a huge drain when have tried on other devices.
  • Many thanks Tim - very helpful.

    Cheers
