    watch

Looks excellent. I'm almost certain this will be my next watch, just have to see it in the flesh first.
  • I was taken aback at first by the "1 mile off over a 20 mile run" bit myself, but if you read it carefully he doesn't say that happened to him. It's a bit of hyperbole expanding the error he saw on his test loop out to 20 miles.

Which is another reason to pay less attention to his opinion when combined with the other things like Chimpware and Tim have mentioned.

Current pace from GPS on a 935 has been of similar levels to a 735 and a 920 for me. In other words pretty good although I prefer to also look at things like lap pace (and also HR and now Stryd power) given current pace will change so much anyway unless you are able to run on a totally flat, windless and firm surface - which is rare!

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1661355962 is one with a 935. Out on the road and back on a lightly tree covered trail.

This is a beautiful capture of your activity. What were your GPS settings (smart/1sec data recording and GPS/GPS+GLONASS)?
  • 1 sec and GPS only.

I usually make a point of using 1 sec to try and capture all possible data but whether use GPS only (the default) or also add GLONASS is a bit more hit and miss. Never been entirely convinced GLONASS makes a huge difference for the sort of runs I do.
  • Got my 935 today and it worked great. Ran a Stryd power test on a track and the distance accrual was within 0.5% of the total including paces between 5:50 / mile and walking. I even forgot to set everything up right and was using Smart Recording and GPS Only as it arrived almost when I was just heading out the door. My 735XT on my right wrist (GPS+GLONASS and 1s recording) was off by almost 4% on distance.

The 935 also never dropped the Stryd and even reported power properly during walking sections. So far the 935 is what I had hoped the fenix 5 would be. Works great for me.
  • Same here. My F5X sure had a unique advantage in mapping but I've never seen any major bugs/GPS or pace issues with the 935.

In addition, 935 seems to be much snappier!
  • First run tonight with 935 and Polar V800.

    Easy 5k run.

In a nutshell, the 935 performed much better than my previous Fenix 5. The track was much smoother and distance was spot on. The track was slightly shifted laterally relative to where I ran, so the V800 performed better overall, but I was very happy with the 935.

As an aside, I ran with the Stryd sensor and the Styd IQ data field. Worked flawlessly. No dropouts at all.

Any chance of sharing these tracks from 935/v800?
  • First trail run (ever)

Check out my trail running activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday

    Note that my Stryd was completely out of juice so pace and distance are the exact same as recorded by FR935;
  • Looks pretty good!

Be careful with running with a flat Stryd if you have the data field still enabled and use Strava.
I did just this myself the other day and Strava takes the Stryd cadence as the cadence as so my cadence on Strava is all zero. Not the end of the world of course but a bit of a PITA.
