FR935 vs F5 build quality

Like some others, I am a recent F5 owner now reconsidering whether I may instead go with the FR935 for its lighter weight and thinner profile. Less clear, though, is build quality of the 935. Can anyone who has handled both watches comment on build quality? A few items I'm wondering about are:

  • Lens material (Garmin website says glass but others here have said plastic - if glass, is it the same as the non-sapphire F5?)
  • Back of the watch (looks different and cheaper than the F3/HR)
  • Buttons (in addition to feel, there seems to be debate over whether they are plastic or metal)
  • Stock strap (is it the same as came with the F3HR?)
  • Only £30 difference between F5 and 935 on Wiggle's site but take the point about needing to pay more for Sapphire (or is it really to get WiFi).

    935: US $500 = UK $622
    Fenix 5: US $600 (20% increase) = UK $660 (6% increase)

So for those in the US there is a significant different in pricing compared to those in the UK.
Wifi is ONLY available on sapphire models, so if you absolutely need WiFi, you're stuck paying another $100 (in the US) making the discrepancy even greater

Yeah strange that. Even on UK Garmin site difference between 935 and 5S/5 non sapphire is still same £30.

If you want Sapphire/WiFi then £100/£90 extra for 5S/5 so the "upgrade" is more in relative terms.
  • Also, the F5 (all models) are still mainly made out of some sort of plastic composite. Only the Back plate and the Bezel are metal. The bulk of the watch body is not metal.

Right. The F5, like the F3, looks to be made of the same 'fiber-reinforced polymer'. The back of the 935 looks like a different/cheaper plastic while the sides look similar to the F5/F3
