Polar OH1 not transferring swim heart rate to 735xt

I've just bought a Polar OH1 HRM specifically for the swim heart rate function as I've always found the chest strap flips when pushing off on each turn. So goggle or arm band is a good option. However I can't get my 735xt to download the heart rate data from the OH1. The OH1 is paired and the watch reads heart rate from it when not in swim mode. What am I doing wrong?

It won't work. The Polar OH1 does not follow the ANT+ file transfer protocol which is needed for it to work with a garmin watch. As of today only select garmin chest straps are compatible with this function.

It's the OH1+ and thought I'd read that other Garmin users had used it successfully.

It works with a Garmin for live HR data recording, but it doesn't work with a Garmin for swimming scenarios, where HR data is collected offline for later upload. AFAIK the only way to download HR data from the sensor is the Polar Flow app.
