Unfortunately that is the life span of the battery give or take. In the US Garmin will offer you a greatly discounted refurbished unit or 20% off other models. I took the refurb and it has been going strong for 8 months (better battery than the original for me).

Go to the Garmin Support center and open a case where you can chat, call, or email.

Not, not really. A Li-Ion battery can go much longer than that. It is quite possible that your issue is of totally different nature.
Anyway, contacting garmin support seems to be the only way out.
