Reduced battery life with s/w 9.7?

Am i the only one that has the feeling that the battery life has reduced since the upgrade(?) to s/w 9.6 and 9.7?  Might have been caused by the 9.6 foul-up that caused the watch to lock up on the power screen and have to be hard reset (has my battery meter got screwed up?), or is there a real reduction caused by the s/w changes themselves?  Or am I imagining it all since my faith in the device has been dented by these mistakes from Garmin?

Anyone else?

Is there a way to downgrade back to pre-9.6 software, since none of these upgrades fixed any issues I ever encountered?

I’m having exactly the same problem. Battery life has gone from an easy week to about 24 hours.  A two hour cycle took it from fully charged to 40%.  I have Just done a hard reset to see if that makes any difference

  • Mine's not that bad, but does seem to be reduced,  Also as of today I now have the time sync error, which I didn't have before, even on 9.60 software.  This is a farce.

  • Oh - also the HR trace in the data card in Garmin Connect (Android) now longer works since a sudden crash (completely shut down to a black screen) a few days ago.  Garbage.

  • The time sync error and the missing HR trace were the same issue and are both now fixed (at the moment).  The 9.70 'update' seemed to introduce a 5h20m offset to the internal clock of my watch.  As I had it set to 'manual set' the displayed time was correct, but everything recorded was out by 5h20m.  As the HR card only shows the last 4hr of HR it was blank.  The only way to fix it is to set to auto-set of the clock, watch in horror as it syncs and goes back in time 5h20m and then wait, and wait, and wait until the GPS sorts itself out.  It did eventually realise the correct time.  Like others, I guess, I expected it to sync the time from the phone app or the network, but it seemingly only uses GPS.  So syncing it with the GC app doesn't work.

Battery life seems better since a reset too.
