Hello my 735 has gone crazy....shutting down, scrolling by itself, buttons not reacting....you name it. 1.5 years old i use it for triathlons. On vacation now and it's not working anymore.
Fixable or ready for the trash ??

  • Looks like water damage. It's typical for the 735XT. Contact garmin support. If it's out of warranty, then perhaps they'll offer you a discounted replacement.

Water damage on a tri watch....it does'nt get any crazier...

  • I've been using the 735XT for 3 years, and during that time I've gone through 3 units, two of them died with what looked like water damage. The 3rd is still ok, but I rarely use it in water. Judging by this, and several other reports here on this forum, I conclude that sadly the 735XT does not live up to the job.

    Thx for the feedback.

    That's sad, what watch is better suited for tri's then ? 935, 945 ...?

  • I don't know. By frequently visiting this forum I get the impression, that both 935 and 945 should be better suited for swimming.

mine just started doing this yesterday!!!  had a 3+ hour run, bathed in it to get the salt and sweat off of it, then it started going bizerk!  shutting down, buzzing non-stop, scrolling through screens, buttons dont seem to be selected.

i started a chat with Garmin Support.  i bought my watch in 09/17 from REI.  since it was past the 90 day warranty, i am receiving a refurbished watch.  i want the quick shipment where they send the replacement watch to me once i filled out the RMA return and gave credit card info.  the credit card will be charged a $220 deposit.  once i ship my defective watch back and they receive it, my credit card will be credited back the $220.  super easy to work with and i'm happy with the outcome.

the tech did tell me to plug my watch into the computer and hold down the power button for 1 minute to try to reset it.  it did not work. it kept buzzing the entire time.    might want to try that before contacting support.  excellent program in my book though!

the tech didn't specify. she just asked if i had a computer that i could plug the watch in to. i believe i've heard that if you plug it into a pc or to charge, it sometimes wakes it up and makes it function correctly.
