I run mainly off road, plotting my route on OS maps then exporting it as a GPX file to create a course to follow on my Garmin 735XT watch while running. The map you get on the watch screen is simple but adequate as long as the OS map route I create matches the real world well. The problem comes when the exact location of OS foot paths don't quite line up with the GPS in the real world or when i get lazy and don't plot the course line exactly on the OS map route. My question is, once I have ran the new route i plotted with the OS maps, is there a way to seamlessly/easily update the map to the GPS i just created by actually running the route as that will be a far more accurate route? I know there is the 'race an activity' but that is a conveyer belt of my last activities and after 10 or so other runs, the oldest falls of the back of the line and can't be raced. I want to have my plotted route course updated with my actual GPS route I ran so that when i redo the run in a few months and have forgotten the best route, i can follow the GPS i actually ran last time and not the clunky OS map plated route.
I hope that makes sense and i would be grateful for any help and advice
Thanks James
