Stopping recording walks

I have had my Garmin for runner 735 XT since Xmas and in all its been amazing. But it pretty useless when I walk with my husband in slow walks. It has auto pause function on but it doesn’t pause it just stops and most times doesn’t get going again even if we quicken the pace. Runs and fast walks it seems to cope with! Any ideas
Switch off Auto Pause. I even did that for my runs because after start it paused again for several meters. Without Auto Pause it's fine. I don't need it as I don't have traffic lights on my way.
