I own Tomtom spark 3 cardio gps running watch, I have recently bought a Garmin forerunner 735xt, when I am looking on the forums I see so many issues that can arise with these Garmin forerunner models, heart rate sensor not working, heart rate sensor not shutting off, screen flickering, screen issues, battery draining really fast, activities that dont save properly on the watch. On my Forerunner 735xt, when I switch off the heart rate sensor in the settings, it takes a couple of seconds before the green lights actually turn off, I switch off the heart rate sensor in the settings and then it takes 3-5 seconds before the 3 green lights go off, is this normal? Are there people using 735xt or 935 or 235 that dont have a ton of problems. And alot of problems are hardware related it seems, I dont wanna sent my garmin to repair after 1 year. Otherwise I am going to return my 735xt right now and get my full money back. I live in the Netherlands. Also, I really like how garmin has alot of options, but it looks like because of all the options, the software is buggy, or am I wrong? Also when I switch off my 735xt I hold the power button, select yes, and then have to wait like 6-8 seconds before the watch is actually off. Arent Garmins a bit too complicated? Also, when I switch on my heart rate sensor in the watch settings, it takes some time before the 3 green lights go on. I also saw people complaining about the lights staying off, or staying on all the time.

    Yes.

I've been using the FR735XT for almost 2 years. Not a ton of problems, but I'd lie if I said that the experience had been trouble-free.

It has bugs, yes. Some get fixed with firmware updates, some appear after a firmware update.

Yes, they are. This is what you end up with if you pack so many features into an electronic device.

I guess this was an issue with the FR235 at some stage. Never heard about it on the FR735XT, though.
  • My Forerunner 245 certainly falls into this category.  HRM not reliable at all.  Seems to go off into never-never land whenever treadmill used at high incline angles/lower speeds.  Same with ellipticals at higher resistance levels.  ‘Don’t think it likes any sweat either, which is naturally going to be produced even on arms during intense workout phases.  All the app widgets are nice, but useless when watch not sensing accurately.  (Oh, and watchband & buckle irritate my skin; can’t wear watch continuously or at night)
