Glass face separating from case

Has anyone else ever had the face of the watch start to separate from the case? Mine is doing that today - after less than 18 months use. I rarely use the 735XT in a pool since it skips laps with drills or kick sets, and have not used it for open water since last August.

There are no scratches on the face and I have not dropped it.

Looking at out-of-warranty repairs online, it mentions $110 for repair/replacement, but I'm not sure that is the minimum or a guaranteed price (and Garmin is closed today/Good Friday, so I cannot call until Monday). I've emailed them, but they probably won't reply before then (if then) either. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1328784.jpg
  • I’ve seen reports like this in the thread before. It’s out of warranty but hopefully Garmin will be sympathetic as it really shouldn’t happen. I’d suggest calling rather than email

  • I've seen a similar issue here on this forum a couple of months ago. The glass popping off is likely a result of manufacturing defect or overheating (glue becomes quite soft when heated).

Planning to call Monday, even though they say it is their busiest day!
Not sure how glue became overheated just from wearing the watch 24/7 (except swimming).
    Hoping Garmin will be sympathetic!!

I should also add that now the heart rate monitor does not connect :(

    Thanks!!

Glue can be thermally degraded for example by:
    - going to sauna
    - taking hot bath/shower
    - exposing to direct sunlight without proper cooling

That said it is not necessarily the only possible explanation for the failure.

Called and out-of-warrenty replacement is $110. Had them send new one now so I am not without the watch for my workouts. So I will be charged full price until Garmin receives old one, then refunded the difference. Meanwhile, I received an email replay that says there will be no charge! I reply about phone call RMA and email support staff says they will refund FULL amount when they receive the old watch. YIPPEE! Garmin support rocks!

But now I cannot get HR monitor to connect, so I will be searching support forums for help with that. I am wearing it and I do have new watch within 1 cm. Searching leads nowhere - am told again and again to try again and wear the HR monitor while searching. The watch did find my friend's HR monitor - why not mine :( And the battery was replaced not too long ago.
