I've downloaded the Strava Routes app and can see it on Garmin Connect on my phone but when I try to select it nothing happens. When I click on Connect Apps in Garmin Express on a PC I constantly get a 'there's a problem with our servers' message. Where exactly am I supposed to see the routes I've created in Strava?
Connect IQ "Applications" (and all other apps) are always launched from your watch, not your phone (although they may use your phone to connect to the internet -- in this case, Strava).
Afaik, an "Application" (as opposed to data field, widget or watchface apps) in 735xt should show up in the list of activities (e.g. Run, Cycle, Swim) after you've installed it on your watch via Garmin Connect Mobile. If not, then in that list there should be another list called "Connect IQ" or "Apps". (I don't have the 735xt, but I've had two watches that are pretty similar in a lot of ways.)
From what I can tell from the store page (and Strava support article), when the app is working, it needs to talk to Garmin Connect Mobile on your phone (via Bluetooth). GCM will ask you to authorize GC to talk to your Strava account. After that, any self-created or starred routes in Strava should automatically be loaded on to your watch, whenever you sync your watch with GC.
I tried it real quick on my 935 (the process should be similar): 1) Installed Strava Routes via GCM. Made sure that the app was listed as installed (the process can be finicky -- I had to click Install once from the store, then another time from gCM) 2) Opened the Strava Routes app from the list of activities on my watch 3) App asked me to open GCM app on my phone, so I did 4) GCM on my phone asked me to sign into strava, and I did 5) Strava asked me to authorize exporting routes from Strava to GC. I tapped Authorize.
Now my strava route appears in the Strava Routes app on the watch. I can select a route and it asks me which activity (Run, Cycle) etc I want to launch. My strava route also shows up as a normal Course on my watch. (I'm not sure if this automatically happens, or if you have to launch the app/select the route first. I only have one Strava route I made for this test. I'm guessing that at the very least you would have to launch the app while your watch is connected to your phone to get the routes to sync.)
Success! It never occurred to me to access apps thru Activities - not sure how I missed that. Once I find it there it was straightforward as you described. Thanks a lot for taking the time to spell it out for this technophobe.
