Battery : Every Second vs Smart Recording

Hye all . I hope that you all can clarify with me something . Recently i ran a 12 Hours UltraMarathon . The thing is my battery only last for 10 Hours . Its stated that the forerunner 735xt battery will last for 14 Hours . Im using Every Second Recording and Normal GPS . I notice that in my daily 1 hour run battery life will drain by 10% .

My Question is :
1) Is there are diffrent between in battery life between Every second and Smart Recording ?
2) How Your battery holding up on your activities ?
3 ) How to get the device to last 14 Hrs ?

Thank you !
  • I have used my FR735XT for some multi-hour ultra races as well, and have some experience in this regard.

    Not noticable.

Similar to yours, i.e. 14 hours is overly optimistic. With OHR on you can count on 9-11 hours.

3 ) How to get the device to last 14 Hrs ?

Turn off optical HR. Turn off GLONASS. This should get you above 14 hours. Additionally turn off bluetooth if not used and try to avoid Connect IQ data fields. Optimistically this could give you 19-20 hours of operation.

  • Yes, the 1 sec recording does seem to slightly reduce my battery life, but mainly just makes the files larger. I have never run it straight down during an activity, but 8-10% per hr sounds about right. 14 hrs is the theoretical max (with new battery), but most people seem to get ~12 hrs +/-. You can turn the light off (on wrist turn) setting as the light and GPS are the two biggest drains. The battery does deteriorate over time. I used to get 5 days without charging and now 3.5 to 4 days.

    Noted . Thanks

Yes, I do for the longes runs, just in case, although I never had the need to use it, because my longest ultra race so far was slightly over 16 hours, and the FR735XT can survive that long on a single charge with optical HR off.
