735XT Bluetooth sync issues - Huawei p9 Lite

Since last week of October my 735 refuses to connect and sync with my Huawei P9 Lite.

I tried to do almost everything.
On the smartphone, clean data and cache, uninstall and reinstall the app.
On the watch, turn off/on, master reset, format partitior, reinstall files, trying to downgrade firmware...... Nothing !

Actually If I try to pair, often it's not possibile to digit the bluetooth sync numer (windows disappears before I completed , and then reappears, and so on..)
And if you reach this phase, it goes on timeout during pairing process...

This has been working for a year and a half, with minor but acceptable issues .
Actually watch is less useful and, more important, not doing what I paid for.

Garmin smartphone compatility list marks OK this brand/model.

I wrote to Service Support and I received a standard mail with instructions to format and reinstall files. Done with no success.
After that, another mail suggesting to send to service point to fix the problem.
Customer service not useful.

I tried also to connect a Samsung J5 and magically.... it worked
So I assumed that all my time, efforts and personal loss of data have been caused by an improper software release that has caused problems to huawei p8 - p9 model in particular.

I read a lot of complaints on this forum, with same issues on 235 model, but not on 735xt .

Have you faced similar problems?
Have you any suggestion?
thank you
Alex

I don't now if this can help some one, for my worked after many and many retries .... and absurdly right now the connection stay stable!! :-O

Also after phone restart the connection stay alive!

I can confirm seriously that This method works like a charm. Tested on 2 Huaweis P9 lite 2016, one with Vivoactive HR, second with Vivoactive 3.
I can confirm too, after restaring connection is still active and GP works with the Watch :)

    Hello,

I can also confirm that this method works.
I had to restart both devices ( Huawei P9Lite an Vivoactive HR ) 3 times and started the method like explained above and yes, it's working!

    Good luck everybody.
    I'm glad I'm connected again.

    Thanks esaone!!

    Hi esaone,
I tried your method between my 735xt and P9 Lite but it doesn't works.
After step 4) I move to BT section and tried to pair watch . BT sync number appears but rounding icon remains on the screen without confirming (altohugh device is under BT connection)
Then I move to GC but it doesn't allow to select Watches to be paired without internet connection and it' doesn't allow to search withoul localization ON
For this reason if I don't reactivate these settings I can't move forward.
And If I reactivate them, you know what is the result.....

    my app 4.1.11
    my firmware 9.10

Thank you If you have any suggestion
  • Thank you !

I think problem solved, at least for now!

    Hi,
Do you Need to following the correct sequence, the watch selection is point 3 with internet connection alive.

After some days the watch stay connected but when I open the GC app this is dropped...After some minutes (with the phone locked) return connected...

  • Hello,

I want to share the result of my (short) test case, I found only one combination to leave the connection permanent and stable...but this is only a workaround and not a definitive resolution.
To do this my steps was:

    - Stop localization services on the phone
    - Restart your phone
    - Switch Bluetooth off on Watch
    - After phone restarted stop (wait 5 sec.) and start Bluetooth
    - start Bluetooth Watch
    - waiting connection for your phone

After this procedure (!!don't start localization service!!) the connection stay stable, you can open GC and click refresh icon many times without connection going down...and also after some hours all work great!! (I don't remember this connection stability before between phone and watch!! :-D )

If you enable localization service the Bluetooth connection going down after 5 seconds...and this service is fundamental for many and many apps on your phone!

GARMIN can you hear me? WORKAROUND not SOLUTION.

......please find a solution, if you need a tester tell me, I'm sorry but I'm an IT system architect and not a Dev, I can't make an app or a patch (I know after this we can have many complex problems but this is a long period , 2 months without a solution is very long time) ...... :-D :-D

Before issuing version 4 of Garmin Connet, communication between Huawei P9 and Forerunner 735 was OK.
I think it's crazy, after 9 weeks do not have a solution yet.
Now I have installed GC v. 4.1.11 but nothing has changed.

Thank you esaone for your effort.
I tried many times following your instructions but without any positive effect.
Me too GC 4.1.11 - no positive effect

The only right thing to do is asking Garmin to SOLVE the problem. It's too easy to say that it's a Huawei problem.

I will try to find some other informations all around this forum. But I can't believe there is no company's expert that can give us a trusted opinion...

  • Still same problem with 735 XT and Huawei 8 lite. Not pairing.
Actually I see no reason to start to switsh off localisation or net or what ever in my mobile. Connection should work and stay connected, as it did with my Samsung and Ipad.

Just wondering, how long time do we have to be testrabbits without sellery ?

Have a Vivoactive HR and a P9Lite. Was no problem. But did not weare the watch for 3 months. The pairing was gone. Did everething possible. Removed all other paired devices. Had a P9 update and a Garmin Connect update. Did also a reinstall of the App no succes at all. Is this a Huawei problem or a misconfig in the app. Pairing with other android works. Other BT appliences do connect with the P9 so where is the misconfig?
Probaly Huawai did something with the BT protocoll that Garmin is not aware off.
