735XT Bluetooth sync issues - Huawei p9 Lite

Since last week of October my 735 refuses to connect and sync with my Huawei P9 Lite.

I tried to do almost everything.
On the smartphone, clean data and cache, uninstall and reinstall the app.
On the watch, turn off/on, master reset, format partitior, reinstall files, trying to downgrade firmware...... Nothing !

Actually If I try to pair, often it's not possibile to digit the bluetooth sync numer (windows disappears before I completed , and then reappears, and so on..)
And if you reach this phase, it goes on timeout during pairing process...

This has been working for a year and a half, with minor but acceptable issues .
Actually watch is less useful and, more important, not doing what I paid for.

Garmin smartphone compatility list marks OK this brand/model.

I wrote to Service Support and I received a standard mail with instructions to format and reinstall files. Done with no success.
After that, another mail suggesting to send to service point to fix the problem.
Customer service not useful.

I tried also to connect a Samsung J5 and magically.... it worked
So I assumed that all my time, efforts and personal loss of data have been caused by an improper software release that has caused problems to huawei p8 - p9 model in particular.

I read a lot of complaints on this forum, with same issues on 235 model, but not on 735xt .

Have you faced similar problems?
Have you any suggestion?
thank you
Alex

Hi guys i am in the same boat after checking compatability charts that state Garmin Forerunner 35 is compatable with the Huawei P9 Lite.
I am not able to pair the two devices same problem as the OP where the code is displayed and required to be inputted in 3 seconds.
So while the issue may be on the handset side it wuold be advisable to remove it from the list of compatable handsets.

  • I find it really funny people always point at Garmin, not at the phone vendor! Why not moan at them and get them to fix their Bluetooth stack. I can’t believe they don’t check their compatibility with Garmin products. If I was you I’d change to another phone vendor. Don’t always assume this is down to Garmin.

    I don't agree with you.
Huawei Bluetooth protocol is absoluterly stable. I work with it every day with plenty of BT devices connected to Huawei smartphone (smartbands, headphones, helmet headset, etc) No one problem at all !! Never!
It doesn't change every day as Garmin Connect App .
Problems started about a month ago, after one of the frequent new release of the Garmin app, distributed in these last weeks.
If the problem was on Huawei side, probably I had to face a lot of similar problems with the other devices... But I had no problems.

In my opionion, it's not an issue to have a bug in the software. It's normal. it can be searched and fixed.
But the Company has to be honest to better understand, recognize and try to solve it.
I don't feel this is happened, until now.

Last but not least, actually Huawei P9 Lite (and P8) is listed fully compatible with 735XT in the official Garmin compatibility list.

Same Problem here with iPhone (iOS 11.1) and 735XT. Since one of the last Garmin Connect App Updates no sync is possible. Have to sync via PC and USB-Cable. VERY PISSED!
  • The problem is with Garmin as I have had Bluetooth problems with every Garmin device I've ever had. My mum's vivofit hr constantly drops connection with her moto play 2017. My Samsung s4, s5, a3, honor 8,5x,6x have always had problems with vivoactive, vivoactive hr, 735xt and 935.

No other Bluetooth devices ever have problems - Garmin is the problem.
  • Unfortunately i stumbled into this problem last Friday.. after months of smooth usage, the watch disconnected out of the blue from my P9Lite
  • Really frustrating... I have the same problem with Huawei P10 Lite

My P8 lite has refused to connect since the software upgrade as well. It seemed ok but as soon as I powered off my phone it would not connect when it was powered on again. My Forerunner 35 will connect with others devices and my phone will connect with others Bluetooth devices which tells me there is a software clash/bug with Garmin and Huawei.
So, are Garmin going to look at this and release a fix?
  • Playing devil's advocate, maybe Huawei should?

I am sure Garmin will be aware of the issues and will be trying to fix it but should the wearable vendor always pick up the pieces when a phone vendor breaks something in their bluetooth stack?
  • Same here with Huawei P9 Lite, this phone have many issues with BT (also for my car, sound quality after a phone call), but I never see this systematical disconnection situation for GarminConnect to my 735xt watch....
LiveTrack work two time on ten attempts in a normal situation with this phone, but I think after a recent app update was introduced an important connectivity problem.

    Bye!

    Hi

Facing the same issue with Garmin FR 235 and FR 920XT pairing with Honor 8 Pro.

For some reason I am unable to connect my Garmin Sports watches with the Honor 8 Pro. The BT pairing code keeps refreshing every second and hence I am unable to key it in before it refreshes again. Finally I get the Connection Timed Out Error. This happens only with the 8 Pro. All other phones I have tried have no issues at all.

Am really frustrated now! Any help in resolving this is highly appreciated.

Here’s a detailed video of the issue as well -
