Samsung Galaxy Note 8 won't pair with Forerunner 735XT

I have been unable to pair my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with my Forerunner 735XT.
I can pair the Note 8 with my Vivoactive HR.
The 735XT pairs with my Galaxy 7 Edge, with more effort than the HR takes.

Both phones are on the Verizon 4G LTE, and after acquiring the 735XT, used both on the same Connect IQ account. Set up a second Connect IQ account for the Note 8, and wanted to use the 735XT on the Note 8, and the HR on the 7 Edge. Due to the pairing difficulty, they are the other way around. I have, IMHO, the wrong wearable with the wrong phone. Bummer.

Anyone else seeing this issue? Woulda/shoulda called support, but it is well after hours.

Finally talked to Garmin Tech Support. The key was to TURN the tracker OFF and keep it off for long enough (at least a minute) for residual memory cruft to go away. After doing that, I finally got the right device on the right phone. The last thing I did was to use the "Connections" to set up comparison between the devices. That appears to going to be easier than pulling up the same activity, recorded on both devces, in Connect IQ then downloading the one I did not want to keep, and deleting it from Connect IQ.
