Any tips - multiple foot pod, HRMs, and power meter...with one 735xt?

Hi.
I have the FR735xt and multiple heart rate monitors, foot pods, and, at the gym, multiple power meters due to multiple spinning bikes used.

Has anyone successfully paired his/her 735 to different instances of one device, i.e, pod, HRM, or power meters? If so, what tips do you have. I can't get it to work well.

Thanks.
  • I have a 935 and know it is possible with that. I have currently have 2 BLE foot pods and 3 Speed and cadence sensors attached. There is a limit for the amount of sensors you might be hitting and also the 735 doesn?t support BLE, only ANT+. What?s in your Sensor list at the moment and what can?t you connect?
  • My FR735XT is paired to 3 heart rate monitors, one footpod, one bike cadence sensor and one virb camera. Everything works without issues. Please describe in more detail what kind of issues do you have.

    HI. Thanks for the replies.
My challenge is with the power meters in the bike's crank arm. I surmise you don't have multiple of the same device activated at one time. Is my dilemma that the bike sensors are activated at same time? It's a spin class and every bike is taken. My 735 connects to a bike's power meter that is on a bike that I am not on.

Is there a way to force the 735 to connect to a specific power meter, or for that matter, to a specific instance of a device when more than one of the devices you have configured in your 735 are active?
  • May I add another use case to this which may help explain the request?
Cyclocross riders with multiple bikes and changes mid race. Could be a power meter, Di2, Cadence or any other bike attached sensor. At the moment you just lose half of the data if you swap bikes as only HR really comes with the rider ;-)
    Thanks
  • Sorry to dig this up again, but i just can't get this to work.
I have a 935 and two bikes with DI2 and Power Meters. The 935 has sensors for both bikes setup in the sensor pool.
The watch connects to the first bike but when i swap over it refuses to connect to the second bike. Have i misunderstood something here or am i not doing something correctly.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Regards, Dave.
  • Try turning off the sensors for the first bike in settings.
  • Hi Chunky, thanks for your reply. Can I clarify, are you suggesting turning off the sensors on the watch mid CX race?
  • Ah ok, didn’t realise it was mid race. Probably not practical then.
  • So would it be safe to say that this is incorrect or are there people out there who have actually managed to get this to work? If so, would you be able to explain how?
As chunkywizard mentioned before, the FR935 can do this.
All the bike sensors needed, have to be paired to your watch and active.
When loosing a sensor the FR935 switches to the next sensor with the strongest signal.
    ...

    Thanks.
    Dave
  • It's the 'when losing a sensor' bit that's tricky. You would need to turn off the current sensor, which is tricky mid race. On the Edge 1030 you can swipe down to get to the sensor pool and switch there which is quicker than jumping through menus on the 935.
