Elevation gain display

Does anyone know if you can view elevation gain on the 735XT while you're running? I know you can see it on connect after the fact but I'd like to view it on my runs.

Thanks
Mark
  • I'm also interested, but I don't think so. For me you can display only current elevation...also because this device haven't any barometric altimeter...
  • Elevation gain may not be available to the end user in watches like 230 and 735xt, but it's still available to Connect IQ apps. I think Garmin makes it unavailable either due to marketing reasons, and/or because of lack of a baro altimeter.

My Connect IQ data field app, AppBuilder, lets you display most "native fields", applying almost any mathematical formula you like.

In your case, the formula would be simple: TotalAscent

I haven't tested TotalAscent on a 735xt, but I'm pretty sure it should work. The value that you see on the watch may be different than the value you see on Connect, after elevation correction is applied.

If you search the app store, there may be other fields which also show elevation gain, either as a single field or as part of a full-screen "complex data field". Dozen Run is an example of a full-screen app which has many fields, including total ascent.
