FR735XT and STRYD as footpod +GPS

Before purchasing a STRYD sensor to increase distance and current pace accuracy, I would like to know if it's possible to use STRYD as a footpod sensor to get distance and speed, and with this configuration, still benefit of GPS track recording.
I know It's OK with 935 or Fenix5 but what about FR735?
I didn't see 735xt mentioned in http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Stryd -excellent- review, see Watch specifics for "Connect IQ + Footpod with GPS" feature.

i think you can only get speed, not distance, from the stryd in the normal running activity mode.
