Inaccurate Heart Rate Reading

Hi,

I have just upgraded from the Vivosmart HR+ to the Forerunner 735XT.

While my old Vivosmart heart rate reading were pretty accurate, my new 735XT appears to be way off of the mark. I've been wearing it for a week now, covering a couple of 10k runs at my fastest pace.

The last shows my average heart rate at 127bpm and a maximum of 138. This is compared to an average of 169bmp and a maximum of 198 the week before using my vivosmart!

I know the technology works differently for different people, but surely i should expect the same or similar readings a week apart from two Garmin devices?

I'm not sure if I have a faulty watch and should exchange it, or if this is what I should expect? If so I'm quite disappointed and short of buying a chest strap, a good section of the features will be completely inaccurate.

I would be interested to here any opinions or experiences.
