lactate threshold not being detected anymore

as the title says, somehow lactate threshold isn't updated/detected for me anymore. LT was regularly updated until Dec 2016 and since then i didn't get any new estimates. if i go into GC -> performance stats it says no data available after 12/16. the setting in my 735 is auto-detect, as it always has been, and vo2max is regularly updated.

i'd be grateful for any suggestions for getting back LT estimation?

so where you tired, or is your max set to high?

Once a week I do a VO2Max run (5K parkrun flat out) and can get a sustained period well above lactate threshold. I reckon if you can't maintain 90%+ MHR for 5 minutes then your max is too high.

How do you define maximum HR? I am not able to get anyway near my maximal heart rate out of competition - it is just NOT going to happen! But when I get that race number ON I will be able to hit my MAX...
  • I am not able to get anyway near my maximal heart rate out of competition - it is just NOT going to happen!

Why's that? When you don't have to carefully manage your pace in order to get a good race outcome, surely you'd be freer to go for maximal exertion, and push yourself so hard that you're a wreck for days afterwards in the name of knowledge?

I don't reach my maximum heart rate any more because I became complacent (and I know it), but then I have no burning desire for an accurate reading of either that or my VO[sub]2[/sub]max, etc. – otherwise I'd be going to a lab and paying for a proper test, and let the expense be my motivation to do what's physically required even if it hurts.
  • I define max heartrate as the maximum heart rate you have seen recently when absolutely killing yourself. I.e. Sprint finish at the end of a flat out 5K, the last rep on hill repeats etc. I run 5K flat our every week at parkrun and every week I get above 90% of MHR. For your weekly hard effort this should be possible.

Looking at a recently race when you were flat out, what was your max HR? Using that figure, can you get within 90% of it?
