HR Broadcasting stops working randomly

Former Member
Hello,
i'm using the HR Broadcasting function of my Forerunner 735XT to send my Hearth Rate to my Garmin EDGE 510 bike computer.
I tried "Broadcasting during Activity" and also Enabling Broadcasting out ouf the HR Widget (as written here http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/forerunner735/EN-US/GUID-0C4E7DFB-E1C4-4EA8-885B-4DF88B3CD341.html)
At the start of the ride, my EDGE 510 receives the Hearth Rate from my 735XT as well as speed/cadence from my Wahoo Blue SC sensor.
But then during the ride, it looses connection to my watch and is not longer showing any hearth rate information (while speed/candence is fine).
If i disable and reenable HR broadcasting on the Forerunner, it takes just 1-2 seconds until the EDGE starts receiving HR again.
On a 65k (2h 15min) this happend more than 10 times.
( Tried a different HR sensor (scosche rhythm+) -> No outages)

This is really annoying. Anyone experience the same problems?

When you no longer see heart rate on the Edge does your Forerunner still show that it is broadcasting or is the Forerunner on a different screen?

Can you post a link to an activity where the heart rate dropped out?

As i understand i have two ways to broadcast the HR via ANT+

    1. Menu -> Settings -> Hearth Rate Sensor -> Broadcast during Activity = Auto (or similiar, using german interface)
This will activate HR broadcasting (little hearth icon appears) during any activity as long the activity is running. I can switch through my different pages of my activity.

    2. HR Widget, Hold UP pressed, Select "Broadcast Hearth Rate" (or similiar). Here i must stay on this page for continuously HR boadcasting.

Most time i used method one. But with the disadvantage of power off / on the whole swatch to get HR broadcasting running again

Yesterday i used method two, because i simple can end "Broadcast Hearth Rate" and restart it again (but even no real solution on a road bike)

My activity from yesterday (all (12) gaps in the HR graph is loosing HR broadcast signal)

  • Did you receive any smart notifications on your FR735XT while you were broadcasting HR data with it?

Good Questions, i had my mobile phone with me, but i do not have any Alarms for any kind of mart notifications (except incoming calls).
But this problem also exists if i don't take my mobile phone on a ride (no mobile -> no smart notifications)

Thanks for providing the requested information. I have not been able to recreate this issue, but we are continuing to investigate. I would recommend that you reach out to your locale product support team so that they can investigate this further directly with you.

No issues yesterday on two 40k rides (Home to Work to Home).
But the disconnects mostly happend during group rides with many other ANT+ devices.
Next group ride is planned for next week

Problem still exists. It looks like that if there is any other ANT+ sensor in near distance, the 735xt randomly stops sending.
Yesterday i did a 110k bike tour with my Scosche Rhythm+ HR Sensor without ANY outage.
Next tour will be on wednesday, here i will try the 235WHR from a friend.
German garmin support needs more than 2 weeks to respond on a mail

    It becomes funny now:
Send my FR735 to garmin support and instandly receive a brand new FR735 within 3 days.
    Replacement reason says "Software error".
Checked the new FR735, same issue after 10min.
Had a call with the german support hotline, send the new FR735 to support again.

Bet 10US$ that i get an other new FR735xt with the same issue.. (it must be a software bug, so don't replace the hardware)

I have been having the same problem as well, even Garmin watch to Garmin bike computer. I bought the 735XT so I would not need a chest strap. Unfortunately, this strategy failed.
