Sticker on Back of 735XT

I recently had the label sticker that surrounds the OHR come off the watch. I was able to remove the sticky residue and there is just a shiny plastic looking surface left now. Everything seems to work fine but wondering if I should be worried or if anyone else has experienced something similar? Thanks.
  • Mine too! It seemed to remove the opaque surface to reveal that shiny plastic you mentined. However mine has been like that for a couple of months and so far I have not observed any problems with it. I today e-mailed customer support about another issue (wrist turn on only turns light off, but not on after update to 7.20), and added that query to the e-mail. I'll post of their response suggests a problem.
  • Thanks Andy. Look forward to hearing any feedback you receive. Seems like a cruddy design to use a sticker on something next to sweaty skin, not to mention something that goes in the pool or the ocean, etc -- likely no issue for functionality but won't help resale value towards a new 935!
  • My sticker hasn't come off completely, but is slightly displaced and some sticky glue, quite hard to remove, comes out. I think it's a result of taking a hot bath. The glue becomes very soft when heated.
  • Agreed on sticker placement and possible resale value, but glad it seemingly does not affect function. I don't expose it to warm water but I do swim frequently with it.
  • The response from Garmin Support:

"Thank you for clarifying all of that information and for providing pictures of the OHR sensor on your Forerunner 735xt. The sensor seems to be okay. As long as there aren't any cracks nor missing LED lights then the heart rate readings should work just fine."

I have seen some posts in the forum about the appearance of a crack. Hopefully these are unrelated.
  • A sticker is just a sticker. I cannot imagine how its presence or absence could affect the operation of the watch.

I do wonder however how a warranty claim would be treated in case of a unit with missing or damaged sticker, which bears the serial number and some QR code.
  • It is not the sticker per se, but the opaque finish that came off under the sticker and surrounding area, including over the bottom LED. I like the OP worried that since the change in surface would likely change the light properties, it coukd affcet the readings. Happily it does not seem to be the case. Hopefully the issues with the units developing cracks on the OHR sensor are unrelated.
  • Interesting - looking forward to my OHR undergoing its skinning process... Could anybody with the problem post a few pictures of it, so I know what's happening when it's happening?

Here you go. It is the shiny part surrounding the bottom OHR sensor. But seemingly no effect on OHR readings.

  • Thank you - that looks weird. I think I can see the film/sticker - or whatever it is - in my 735XT, so all good for now. Maybe it is just sweat protection?
