Pausing a run - resume/save/discard screen

The "resume" screen that's visible when you pause/stop a workout irks me for 2 reasons...

Firstly from there I cant see my distance or pace or the clock time, and i can't manually lap...

Secondly that if you wait for long enough you then have to press start twice for it to actually resume (i've missed several miles as a result of that one)

is there any way to have the watch just stop and stay on the regular screen and then start with the start button without it ever going to the resume/save/discard screen?

hope that was clear.
  • You should be able to return to the data screens loop – which you may have configured to display distance, pace and/or clock time – by pressing the button from the Resume/Save/Discard menu, while the timer is stopped, and you can resume the timer from there by pressing the button (once).

As for not being able to mark a lap while the timer is stopped, that's just something you'll have to live with and work around irrespective of (how much) it irks you or not, unless you want to use a different running watch.

Yeah we had a long conversation about this on the forum a month or so ago. There were a variety of opinions and suggestions. None of them were very useful for those who want the option to lap while paused (like me). Not a terminal issue, but can be occasionally annoying depending on the workout.

    Things have changed since then.

Now you, SEATTLE_THISTLE and other like-minded folk can buy a ">‑5">fēnix‑5/5S or a FR935, any of which will give you the ability to mark a lap while an activity is paused or stopped.

Whether the feature alone (or in conjunction with other improvements and additional features) is worth one's while to upgrade – and wear all the relevant net costs, with or without seeing his/her current device to recoup a diminished amount – is entirely his/her decision. I respect others' prerogative to make that choice, but I have no undue consideration for any feelings of frustration or perception of ‘injustice’ on their part in having to spend more because they want something particular that happens to be on commercial offer, but just not in what they've previously chosen and invested.

Yeah it's not enough for me, but i do appreciate these changes. I'll probably wait for the next iteration in 12-24 months before upgrading. In the meantime i'm more than happy with my 735XT. It gets the job done, and then some.

you can if you press the back button
  • Doh!

Serious doh! That's so simple but I couldn't find it as an instruction anywhere. Thanks! :)
