HRV Stress Score

Former Member
Former Member
Garmin Connect mobile for Android has recently included HRV stress score next to the other performance metrics like Vo2max. I tried the test last night (basically stand still relaxing for 3 minutes with the HRM belt) - I got a score of 10 - but nothing is recorded? Do I need to upgrade the app on the watch or am I doing anything else wrong?
  • As has been explained in another thread in this forum, the HRV stress score feature of the mobile app is reserved for the latest Fenix 5 series only. Whether it will come to older devices as a firmware update is doubtful.
  • I believe this only works on the F5 series. Apparently it should be hidden in GCM if you dont have an F5, but there is a bug

OK: I will just continue tracking HRV in SportTracks mobi then - I have activated HRV in the .FIT files on my 735XT :-)

Can you briefly describe the steps to do this? Thanks

    • Do a Google search for “enable HRV on Forerunner 735XT”.
    • Start reading.
    • Start experimenting.

    Stress score on 3 series

As has been explained in another thread in this forum, the HRV stress score feature of the mobile app is reserved for the latest Fenix 5 series only. Whether it will come to older devices as a firmware update is doubtful.

Hello, the stress score app is available on my Fenix 3. Having using it a few times. I don't find it informative/meaningful. Is it because it's meaningless on the 3 series ? If this is the case, why in the hell is the app showing on the 3 series ?

    Thanks

You're entitled to that personal opinion.

Is it because it's meaningless on the 3 series ?
You tell me. Nobody – including Garmin – has to consult with you to divine what you would find meaningful (or, indeed, what constitutes ‘meaning’ to you in the first place). If you don't find the app or the information it presents to be of value, then don't use it; the use of the app is entirely voluntary and optional.

If this is the case, why in the hell is the app showing on the 3 series ?
It's installed by default, but if you somehow find its presence to be an affront, I'm sure you can (and the onus is on you to) take action to remove that Connect‑IQ app.

    Off course!

I just followed the guide for Forerunner 920XT here (it works 100% the same on Forerunner 735XT):

How did you do that? I followed the sporttracks guide but can't get into diagnostic mode. I pushed the top right button to show activity (up) and menu (down), pushed down to get to menu, then did 10 times up, then down but don't get into another mode... Please help, thank you.
