Why calories for activity doesn't work in 735xt. Crazy calculation.

Why Garmin don't answer?
  • Probably because you are in a user to user forum not an official Garmin support channel.

What are you asking anyway? I recall some discussion about BMR calories a few weeks ago but you now seem to be talking about calories within activities - so presume runs, rides etc?
  • Yes I tried to found one technical solution to this general problem but by the moment I not found this. My only motivation is to resolve this problem or to obtain an answer from Garmin saying we are working in this problem. Off course this information should be interesting for another Garmin users.
I try several times contact with support Team in Garmin without any answer. I like to run with Garmin 735 and I want to use this in my day to day. Which is the problem to do this with respect in an independent forum?

What's the actual question specifically? Can you give examples?

I don't have any issues with activity calories, and it's rarely discussed other than being perhaps a little low compared to what other devices/calculations give. Perhaps your device is buggy?

Non-activity calories on the other hand is a recurring discussion point.

agree this is a problem and I have posted in a few other areas but never and answer.

Seems other users don't have the experience or understand the issue.

Garmin does not want to acknowledge the issue and when I called it seems they have some algorithms that are fairly inconsistent. They give you some VO2 variables but in fact don't' USE them for calculations.....same for heart rate. hence you get some odd results and of course you can use a Polar, or MIO Alpha or other HR devices or even a machine like a lifestyle elliptical with heart rate and it will give you 310 calories or 275 calories ............and my 735XT with the Tri-HRM heart strap will return 113 calories - complete BS and my second watch with the same result.

These forums and this software and system is really useless and a waste of time because the other users either say they don;t have (or understand) the issue OR give you some useless advice like reboot the watch or download the software or contact Garmin.......who has you set a variable and them go ad play with it but it doesn't solve the problem so wait for the next rev of software....that then just foul it up with more issues.

They have really been using the Microsoft Playbook for the last few years......
