735xt has died

Went swimming with watch (about fourth time only) and shortly after getting out the pool watch went into melt down turning itself off and on repeatedly until it stopped completely. This happened at 11am yesterday. This morning it has a habit of turning itself on and off all by itself. Has anyone else had this problem? I am assuming it is a faulty seal somewhere that has let the water in. The watch is only four months and have mostly been using it for running. Any help greatly appreciated as I have been on hold now for 40mins!! to customer service.
  • There has been a few reports like this unfortunately. Sounds like you will need to contact Garmin support to get a replacement.

Just experienced the same thing. Did you have any luck with a replacement from Garmin and how long did that take?
    Thanks
  • Same here - My 735XT died in the pool

Same thing just happened to me, when wearing the 735XT in the pool it started to vibrate a lot, like never before, screen goes off and on and off..

Now it will not charge, will not reset, will not turn on, it is dead.

Mine did have a water leak and died. Garmin was very quick to replace (took about 5 days from the time I called them). Reach out to their support.

same problem for me, my 735xt just died mid swim in the pool, I swim twice a week in it and run in it too. watch is less than a year old, not really impressed for a £300+ watch that is supposed to be designed to swim in. Call to Garmin pending
update - spoke with Garmn who advise despite the warranty still being in place and that their warranty states in the event of a claim they will either replace with new or refurb, they are only offering me a refurb with no real explanation why a new watch is not being offered - not very impressed I have too say
  • I had the same experience with my second 735xt both fails about year of use. Allways is vibrate, light on and button "up" pressed. I don't recommend this model.
  • Hi,
The issue is very common for this model and is described on support page: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?altLocale=en-US&faq=JjCtCviC3t6Y0kub8r8ca9&serialNumber=4S8050189&tab=topics&topicTag=region_devicerepair
I had the issue with my 735XT one month after warranty time and because I'm not US, UK or Scandinavian citizen I couldn't replace it for free :(
I had to pay for replacement but fortunately was option to replace it to 935 and now I'm using this model, I hope it will be better designed.
