Activity calories. Really bad calculation.

This is my first Garmin unit. I have used in the pass polar, Fitbit etc.. with the 735xt I obtain the worst results in the calculation of calories during the total day. I am around 2300 in a normal day and 735xt calculate more than 3300 calories per day. Any suggestion? Martin.

Mine seems to be pretty accurate...

I did a BodPod as well as a VO2 max a few weeks ago and from the BodPod (measures body composition) it gave me a rmr of 1641 kcals, just in a veggy state, for sedentary it calculated 2100 kcals which is 1.28 x 1641. I always use sedentary but I run at least 4 times a week and strength train 3 days. Garmin calculates my tee (total energy expenditure) for a sedentary person of 1909 which isn't far off from what the BodPod calculates of 2100 for sedentary. I've been using some kind of Garmin device for the last 2+ years and have been able to shed around 80 pounds of weight. So for me Garmin is a little on the conservative side. Hope you're able to achieve your goals as I did. I just always use my devices as a guide not the written law and I tend to err on the conservative side as well when it comes to my diet.

No activities and I was sitting all day and still I have 994 active calories.
Also almost 3000 calories a day seems very off!

So you have 7490 steps. Can you see in Garmin Connect what times of the day they were mostly being recorded. Certainly a lot of steps sitting down!
