Heart rate monitor problem

I found a problem when I upgrade to 6.20. It still show the heart rate when I don't wear the watch, but the green light on. But when the green light off, there is no heart rate number. But I don't know it happens after I upgrade to 6.20 or it always happens.
  • Just tried this by moving out of low power mode (green lights off), going to the data pages (green lights on) and thus seeing a HR.

I then took my watch off and it showed a value for about a minute before going to -- and the green light has gone off.

That makes logical sense - show the same value for a little bit to ride over short periods with no "connection" but eventually give up.

Is this actually any different to what you are seeing?

The problem is it didn't show the same value in my case.
Try this, takes you watch off, it will show -- when the green light off, press light on button, green light will be on again.switch to hr data, see what will happened.
  • Yes it shows a value in that case which looks similar to what my HR would be and fluctuates a bit before it goes back to -- after about a minute. Presume it is trying to establish a "pulse".

Not sure quite what your issue is though? If you are not wearing your watch a HR is not displayed for very long.

In my opinion,it supposes to no get the value when you don't wear the watch. But actually, it shows the hr every time you don't wear it.

If the watch is moving it will always report a heart rate, only if there is no motion detected by the accelerometer will it report --. The heart rate value will change based on the movement, therefore if you flick the watch back and forward by the strap, the value reported will increase significantly.

This is no different to how it works when it's on your wrist, if it cant get an accurate value (which for me is 99.9% of the time) it guestimates bases on watch movement, in recent weeks this figure has grown significantly. For example my heart rate when walking is between 65 and 80 bpm depending of terrain, in the summer this device would report between 80 and 100 bpm, now, my heart rate for walking is always reported as 120 -140 bpm, even if I start an activity and ensure I have a heart rate lock before setting off.

I don't know if this is do to do with any recent updates, or because the weather has got colder affecting the device performance, but either way it makes the device practically useless for all day heart rate tracking.
