Slow to acquire satellites recently

hi

since either 6.10 update ( or me upgrading to iPhone 7 ) acquiring satellites is taking ages ( 5 to 10 mins ) in areas where i normally get reception with 30 secs. I run the same route from either work or home for 6 months every day with this watch and every day its faultless until now.

Is it new software ? new iPhone ?

Anbody tried autolocate on the 735xt by powering off then on again whilst holding down button. Is that the right method ? it seem bring up some testing menu ?

any advice / help appreciated!!!

thanks
Mark

hi - not much help, but i get pretty much instant GPS lock on firmware 6.10
  • You could try a hard reset which deletes the satellites cached info.

Hold down power button for at least 15 seconds until powers off.
Go outside, turn on and wait for a GPS fix again - which might "correctly" take a few minutes.

See if then GPS fixes are acquired much faster thereafter.

And, like Jason, not seen any issues here myself.

I've had this happen to me but with the previous FW version. What ended up solving this was to update the Satellite Cache by connecting to the PC using USB. I've read somewhere (but have no way to verify as I don't have access to the logs) that the Satellite cache that you get over BT is smaller than the one over USB (like 3 vs 7 days prediction or something). I have been speculating that sometimes we might not be getting EPO files from the Garmin servers (server down kinda thing) causing the crazy long acquisition times but again this is a speculation.
