Hi. I have recently joined a running club and will be attending their weekly speed sessions. The coach has asked us to bring a stopwatch to record each interval. I'd like to record to whole activity on my Garmin so that I can upload to my Strava but can't see how I can do this and stop/start/reset the timer without ending the activity if you see what I mean. How can I use a stopwatch and record the whole session at the same time? Hope someone can help. Wendy :-)
What I do is to the start the timer at the start of the first interval. You might want to start the timer at the beginning of any warm up but I tend to have a separate warm up activity.
Then, in the session, just use the Lap button to take manual laps at the start and end of each interval until you are done with the session when can press stop and save that as normal. In Strava or Garmin Connect you can then see all your lap splits in the Laps (Strava) or Splits (GC) section or in History on the watch.
Only thing to be aware is if you have Auto Lap set and the intervals are longer than the auto lap distance. As you are from Derbyshire am guessing you probably have auto laps set to every mile? "Speed session" suggests the intervals are shorter than a mile so you are probably OK there.
For the warm down I again usually start another activity.
Hi, as Tim said, you can manually press lap every start/end of interval. That way you'll have each interval time/pace/distance/avg hr/max hr/cadences etc. as well as you'll be able to track the rest time/distance between each interval.
Just to be safe I recommend you to disable the auto lap function.
I also warm up and cool down in separate activities.
Thank you that's most helpful. Still trying to find my way around the watch as you probably guessed. I'll disable auto lap as suggested and record WU/WD separately and see how I get on. Thanks again :-)
