Reboot during activity (running and bike)

Hello,

I got the 735xt for a week and updated the software to 4.40, but I have some MAJOR issues.
The watch has these behaviors:
- RUNNING: during the run (in not particular moments) it simply reboots - several times !! -. Black screen with "Garmin" logo and it reopen the activity where it crashed.
Here an example:

- BIKE: same issue but not several times during the activity.

I've read here that this problem was recurrent with the 3.30 update of the firmware.
But now it still has this problem with my case.

Any solution?
Do you have the same?

Cheers
  • Sorry to bother again,

but what we are supposed to do?
Is it something fixable with the next firmware or shall we return the watches?

    Cheers
  • I installed the beta 5.08 to verify if I have the same issues.
    And yes.

    Anyone has my problems?
Do I have to return the watch?

But mine came with indoor bike activity. :-(

    really?
Mh.. that surprises me quite a bit. I always thought that was related with GPS recording and processing but since you are indoor and I guess you dont use gps, that's interesting.

    Do you use any IQapp?
  • I think if your watch repeatedly crashes and you have tried the latest beta then it might be time to seek a replacement watch.

"repeatedly" I would say is not enough... Continuously.

I just have one last question:

In MyStats->Vo2max the watch asks me to run at least 10 min... I have run hours... Several activities and no value pops out
    (running and cycling as well)

    Race predictor.. as well
Lactate threshold is auto-detected (ON), but no value is present.

Question. Am i missing something? Like activate something before activity (I always run with the heart monitor)? or is one of the related issues that I have? That basically confirm that I have to return the watch...

    Thanks guys for your reply!
  • For cycling you need a power meter as well a HRM.

What training effect values are you getting when running?

Normally you just need to run steady at least over 70% max HR for at least 10 mins for a value to appear.

If, as you imply, your watch crashes on every activity then it may not be computing the values correctly.

On this run of yours https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1354329364 not surprised got no VO2 Max as the HR looks too varied and you do not run for long. Was that with a strap or just the OHR?

Thank you TIM,I didn't know that it needs 10min at 70% of HRmax. Now I understand. It crashes before, or (since I'm in off season) I'm not pushing enough.
Yes I'm using always the strap for activities, never the optical one. And from the watch I have all the values: speed, distance, HR. It works really fine despite the crashes!

Just to reply to Rasmustj: I actually wanted to verify in indoor training if it does the same and... yes... it crashed.. several times...

    here the activity.

Funny thing is that I created the activity "gym" that is a simple activity recorded with heart monitoring and time. NO GPS.
After the first crash it starts using the GPS! That's wired.
I still thing that there is some software issue with the GPS data management and acquisition. Because even if the activity should not turn on the GPS it turned ON and recorded my initial position!

I'm seriously thinking to give back the watch...

Yes, I am having the same issue with my Fenix 5 plus. The watch reboots during a run with the black screen and Garmin logo. Seems to be doing it in the same location in every lap that I ran this morning.
