735 won't charge

Just got a new 735 xt and I turned it on and it had 18% charge so I plugged it in and it decharged the unit and now I cannot get it to charge via computer or via mains using garmin mains charger. When I plug it into the computer I hear the tone to say a USB device is connected (PC) but soon after the tone for USB device disconnects sounds.
Any ideas?
  • Obvious question - is the charger connected to the watch firmly?

When does appear to connect to a computer, do you see the device in File Explorer?
  • Try just leaving it connected to the low votage USB connection on the computer. After about an hour or so, disconnect and see if you can start it by pressing and holding the top left button until the Garmin logo appears.
  • Left it charging overnight. No charge still. When it is plugged in the battery sign with the power lightning bolt comes up but does not charge. Think I will call Garmin this morning
  • Is there any power left in it?

If so, try a hard reset where you hold down the power button for 15 seconds until it powers off.
  • This happened to my watch after 3 months. Garmin also told me to try charging it from a wall AC-outlet. They replaced the watch.

    twice in 13 months

The first time this happened to me, they replaced it. It has been about 6-7 months since I received the new replacement and it has done it again. I have called customer service and tried all the reset methods suggested. I am furious because I don't even know what is causing this.

They won't give me a new replacement, but even if they did, I don't know how to prevent this from occuring again.
