Stryd Questions

Anyone using Stryd? Interested in how it works with new update to ConnectIQ. Are there now Stryd fields you can include in the normal Run activities, or do you need to use the Stryd running App? If you use the Stryd Running App does it record a normal FIT file that is sync'd to GC, and does that file include all the Stryd metrics? Do the additional metrics show up in GC? Do they show up in other sync'd platforms like TP or ST?

Thinking about getting one and interested in people's view.
  • Be interested too.
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/14cc7713-eff0-4136-a643-ac88baf99d02 is the Stryd CIQ app
    and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZk-kF86viU the video.

So looks like you use the CIQ app not the normal Run activity profile.

I see the reviews there suggests works on the 735.

I have a Stryd, a 735xt and an Ambit 3 Peak. I downloaded and played a bit with the Stryd IQ App but unfortunately I don't like at all so I haven't recorded any runs with it.

If Stryd decides to release individual Datafields for Power, GTC, L/R Balance etc. so that we can use them in the regular Running profile, I will give it a try.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
  • Allow power meter fields in running mode

We could solve all our problems if garmin allowed power meters in running mode as Suunto does, as it would enable us to record power very cleanly and use the very good workout mode in running while recording power.
    Thanks for listening to us.
    Cheers,
    Ben
  • Ordered mine already :)

@TimGrose - Read your post on DCRs site. My thinking on Running Power is right now most people use HR and Pace to measure energy expenditure and output for running, but in the future better measures will be SMO2% and Power; replacing those 2 for the internal and external measures respectively for training. Power will tell you how you are performing and SMO2% will tell you how your body is responding.

Agree completely with your perspective on Power and SMO2. I've been using the Stryd app with a Fenix 3 since it was in beta, and it has gotten quite good.

That said, I would prefer that there were data fields for the Garmin Run app for Power and some of the Stryd running dynamics.
  • Just noticed Stryd includes barometric altimeter as well. Wonder if we will be able to directly tap into that for elevation data. That would be awesome, have always thought including this in a Tempe would be a great idea, that way no need on the watch and if people want to add it they can.
  • This question is still valid. See https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/360a26c4-e2bb-45b7-8f97-2694ccf74eef for a datafield that the 735xt can use alongside the Stryd datafield. It displays (lap) power and a lot more. There are versions with 4, 5, 6 and 7 metrics in one view. See the links on the app page that the link above here links to
