I have uninstalled and reinstalled the weather widget multiple times, as well as powering on and off. The GC app is open and the Notifications and Calendar widgets work flawlessly. Yet the connection to the Weather widget is very irregular, almost always with a "Waiting for Data" message. Is this a known issue?
At this stage I've tried..
- being in wifi / not being in wifi
- turn locations services off and on
- uninstalling / reinstalling weather widget
- dialling in my location on maps on phone
- making sure weather app on iPhone is displaying
- locking in GPS signal on watch
- having garmin connect app open / running in background
Still getting "waiting for data"
Anything I could be missing?? Like drmrforman, everything else that relies on mobile connection works fine
Is the watch and the mobile app actually connected?
Are you seeing notifications and calendar entries? If so the app also needs to have an internet connection to get the data and a recent GPS fix so may well not work indoors.
Watch and app are always connected, have the GC app running in background all the time.
I get all smart notifications, can see calendar entries working fine on watch also.
Phone is generally in either wifi or decent 4G area so again no issues with internet connection.
I did speak with someone from Garmin last week on a separate topic and brought this issue up. Two things they mentioned to me.
1 - There is a known bug with the GC app across a few regions, which is causing issues with devices sending and receiving data to and from the app (they said could possibly have been caused by recent software updates made by different phone manufacturers, i.e. iOS 10 etc...
2 - They are also aware of the weather "waiting for data" issue on watches, and have somehow linked back to point 1
What will most likely happen soon I guess is software update for GC app and firmware update for the watches, no idea of a timeframe on that though.
Be interested to know if it works for anyone at the moment?
I have the same problem and it is not just us having this problem. Many devices, software - iOS and Android have this BUG. There are many threads about this across the forum.
What have happened to Garmin? So many bugs in software and no fixes for months?
I think this is a general issue - I tried multiple times to (factory) reset the watch and/or pair it with a different iOS device - usually the weather widget works initially but fails after a day or so.
