What happens to deleted Activities, Apps, and Widgets?

i'm sending this in parallel to my earlier post about not being able to reinstall the Stress Score App...

what happens when i delete an Activity, App, or Widget from the the Watch? i.e., something that was there from the factory. is it removed forever and require some manual re-loading of files onto the watch or would they all reappear if one restored the watch to factory defaults?

i've already encountered oddities in three things i've removed from the watch:

1. I tried to start deleting activities that i don't currently use, expecting that i could add them back if and when i wanted them. yet, after deleting "Bike Indoors," i noticed that such an activity doesn't appear on the list available as "Add New" activities.

2. as noted in my other thread, in hopes of freeing up some memory to explore more watch faces and widgets, i uninstalled the Stress Score App? when i tried to reinstall it today (using Garmin Connect on my iPhone), i got an error "Device Communication Error."

3. in order to replicate or test the problem listed in 2, i removed the Strava Stress Score data field, and low and behold, it's not listed under uninstalled data fields and i don't even see it listed in the ConnectIQ store. :(

needless to say, i'm a bit confused and frustrated right now about what i can/cannot delete with possible long term ramifications. i am tempted to restore my phone to factory settings, but that of course would wipe out all my activity history and all the customizations i've done up to now.

thanks for any thoughts/tips/experiences that might help me out.
  • Deleted factory-installed widgets can be reinstalled via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile, without requiring resetting the watch to factory defaults.

thanks! it wasn't working via Garmin Connect, but i finally got home to try it with Garmin Express and i was able to restore things.

    whew!
  • ok. following up my own ignorance and discovery...

    1. bike indoors can be retrieved by choosing bike and it's there in a submenu a few steps after creating the bike profile.

    2. as noted in the other thread, Garmin Express was able to reinstall the stress score app.

    3. i found the strava stress score via the Connect IQ store...

so in short, all is well again :)
