Forerunner 735xt Skin Irritation?

Had the 735xt now for about 2 days and I started to feel skin irritation. I've had the watch on since I finished with all the setup, but for tonight I decided to sleep with the watch off. The strap is not too tight around my wrist. I'll give it another go today and see how it is...

Anybody else have issues like this?
  • Nothing at all since release. I'm wearing mine 24/7
  • Mine irritated initially but now it's settled down (or I've got used to it) and I no longer have an issue

We recommend any users who have experienced a skin irritation reach out to our Product Support Team (link in signature) for assistance. Once in contact with you we can investigate the cause accordingly. It is suggested to ensure the inside of your band has been dried thoroughly after any activity or cleaning. Keeping the inside of all of our bands clean and dry will reduce the chances of sensitivity greatly.
  • I had simmilar problem with Vivoactive HR, but it disappeared within couple days.

I had a similar problem with my 235 - the OHM bump irritated my skin slightly at first, but it grew worse over time. I actually had a red swelling on my wrist where the OHM bump pressed. I tried wearing the strap looser, but that didn't seem to help.

I wore the Garmin 235 24/7, except when it was being charged, and I sweat a lot, but I washed the watch and band thoroughly after every workout.

Finally I called Garmin and they let me upgrade to the 630 (no OHM) for just the difference in price. Apparently some people's skin is more sensitive to the OHM bump than others.
  • I changed wrist for a few days when had a mild irritation. Think it could actually have been a fly bite near where I normally have the watch which obviously did not help.
I do take mine off when take a shower however - force of habit but at least gives a chance to wash that area too!
  • after 6 weeks I have now some skin irritations as well
  • I've seen irritations like yours, but as per Tim, I just swap wrists for a couple of days until it's settled down.

  • I've had my 735XT for about two years now, and last summer the wrist strap (near the buckle end) started causing irritation. I don't wear it when I'm sleeping or in the shower, so it's not on 24/7. I have swapped wrists but it just starts up instantly now. It's still continuing now into the winter.

I thought it was just me, but a quick look on these forums shows it to be quite a widespread issue. Has anyone found any good replacement straps that stop this?

  • I don't have these problems. I don't wear it too tight and I clean my watch every few runs with liquid soap.
