Feature requests and suggested improvements

I thought it would be good to have a feature request thread for the 735. Most other devices have such a thread and rumour is that Garmin folk look at these occasional. i'll make a start:

  • option to toggle vibration between off, normal (the current vibration) and intense
  • a data field 'distance to start'

That's all I have at the moment. Quite happy with the current feature set
  • Presume CW was pointing out that you can't change the volume in the watch settings. Out of interest, what alerts that matter to you are you regularly missing?

Lap alerts. Not the end of the world if it's my 1km beep on general runs but very annoying if the bleep indicates the end of an interval

    +1

and the short beeps indicating change of pace is coming up (doing intervals like 15x200, 10x400 etc)

the backlight settings should be a bit more sophisticated, like they are on the F3. i would be happy about the following two things in particular:

    1. backlight after sunset option
    2. have separate backlight settings for keys and alerts.

Thank you all for providing suggestions and for discussing improvements to the Forerunner 735XT. We do read these forums and pass along the suggestions, but we also recommend that any feature requests or improvements be entered at the Garmin Ideas website. Please visit www.garmin.com/ideas. All ideas submitted are evaluated, and maybe used in future software updates or products.
  • I'd like the 735xt to be able to leverage the running stride length field in GC mobile to estimate distance when running in normal daily activity tracking mode. As it is now, it way over-estimates my stride length when running.
  • Out of interest why would you be doing a run in activity tracking mode and not recording it as an actual activity?

In case one is running for some reason in "normal life", eg to catch a train or something.

The watch seems to detect running and apply a different stride length; why not have it be accurate as well?
  • Backlight

The flashlight effect of the backlight resembles that of a cheap watch from a gas station. I believe this was done to improve battery life. Perhaps consider a firmware setting to control of the backlight strength.

Really, 3 posts on the Backlight in 3 separate threads including new one you needed to start???? Guess you never were on the interwebs before huh?
