Battery life of the 735XT...

For those that have had theirs for a few weeks now, how are you finding it? For those that have upgraded from a 235, how does it compare?

Do you believe the 14hrs GPS+HRM?
  • I have not tested the battery life very well, but here are DCR's tests on Strava:

Without OHR, GPS Smart Recording - 19 hours - https://www.strava.com/activities/575666015

Without OHR, but with 1s Recording and GPS - 15 Hours - https://www.strava.com/activities/578743020

It seems in my testing to use about 10% - 12% / hr of running with GPS and OHR, so that would mean only 8-9 hours, but this is not scientific at all, just my first observations. Another poster on Amazon said he got 9 hours in an Ironman he ran. Suggestion is probably to use a chest strap and turn off OHR for longer time requirements and you should get up to 15 hours as above.
  • Also just use GPS and not also GLONASS.

This week has been interesting. I charged last Sat evening to 100%. It was still at 100% Sunday morning; it seems to stay at 100% for awhile. Then I did a 6 hour cycling event on Sunday with chest HR and GPS only. That used 45%, or 7.5%/hr. On Tuesday evening I did another ride of about 1:45. By Weds evening I was down to 8% battery, where it has remained since. It is now Friday morning, so it's been at 8% for more than 36 hours!

Ha, it just now turned itself off at 10:50am Fri. It was still reading 8% battery left though... I wonder if it will recalibrate the battery percentage?

So, I got over 5 1/2 days battery life with 7:45 hours of GPS cycling using an HR strap. Not bad.

I think the battery life has been great!, usually lasts all week, and I don't have any Issues plugging it back for an hour or 2 while just watching TV *and or before bed.

    I'm Happy!

That is a great result, 5 days+ of charge with 1 1/2 hours activity per day covers most people nicely (well at least me).

Just got a full 7 days out of a charge (100% down to 9%) with everything on except BT+notifications the entire time. This included 6.6 hours of GPS running (smart recording, no GLONASS) plus 31min non-GPS swimming.

    Pretty happy with that.
