Strap compatibility 230/235/630/735XT

I just noticed that Garmin also launched a bunch of new straps for the 735XT. For some reason the bands are not listed as compatible with the 230/235/630 and vice versa. Does anyone know if they will fit?

(Black/Gary) looks to be the very exact one on my 735 right now.
As such maybe there are just saying it is direct replacement for something that is actually sold with a 735.
  • I think he is asking if current bands for the 230/235/630 will fit the 735 and vice versa.

Can't think of a reason why they would not.

The straps that come as standard with the 235 and the 735 are "softer" to allow you to get the strap tighter and further up the wrist for better chance of OHR working.

Yup, that's exactly what I am asking. If you click on the Garmin.com links on my OP, you will see that 230/235/630 are all listed as cross/compatible (regardless of material: silicone for 235 vs not) but the 735 straps are not listed as compatible with anything else.

It might be a typical Garmin.com spec error ...
  • Probably!

I suspect somebody does not realise the 735 is now effectively in the 230/235/630 "family" although it is like an older cousin as obviously does a lot more.

I think that's a case of the Forerunner 230, 235 and 630 models were designed to share the same firmware and the same physical dimensions (with the exception of the optical HR sensor bump on the FR235) right from the start. Garmin probably does not maintain a list of watch strap profiles (c.f. ANT+ profiles) to pick from when deciding the physical specifications of straps for watch models, and then do a search based on the selected profile to identify which other models are compatible.

Which begs the question, will the firmware of all the *3* generation of Forerunners ever be synchronized? The current 3.10FW for 735XT is not in sync with the rest.

I would imagine the sensor hub FW would be the same at least.
  • I don't think the main 735 firmware will ever be "in synch" with the 230/235/630 apart from physically looking the same. Just too different.

Sensor hub more likely I agree

Can anyone answer whether a strap of any other Garmin fits the 735XT ?- I have a Forerunner 645 and the end link to the case is much wider than the 735XT - which straps have the same size endlink as the Forerunner 735 XT ?

  • 235 will fit 735xt for sure. I am not familiar with the 230 or 630 but if they are listed with these for other straps they should work.
