Looks really nice. Garmin also announced the Strava Suffer Score data field. Just downloaded it and can't wait to give it a try. Bring on the pain!
  • I like how it's based off the 235, but for the price I lost interest. If it was $350 I think it would be a good option. I'll take the Fenix 3 for $50 more with all the extra bells and whistles that I use (I don't use HR, so it maybe would be a different story if I did).

where did you find the strava suffer score app? do you mean you downloaded it for the Fenix 3 already or did you get it on the 735?

never mind I found it - its in the data field section - I am excited and will try it on my way back home on my bike!!!

This is exactly the watch I've been waiting for. The benefits of the built-in HRM of the 235 (which I currently have), but the ability to have the additional metrics of the 630 when wanted. The only other Garmin option at this point is the fenix 3HR, but I've found it to be too large and heavy for me as a day-to-day running watch. YMMV.

Out of interest what are these "extra bells and whistles" you are happy to pay extra for?
  • Placed my order for the black version today and it will be here Friday. Looking forward to it!

Did you order from Clever Training, and did they honor the 10% VIP Code? They told me that they would not honor the code for the 735 per new terms with Garmin. I placed an order but plan to follow-up with them tomorrow.
  • Unfortunately they did not honor the code. I put up a little fight but ultimately decided to still purchase from them because they've always treated me well. Garmin is the one to blame here - they place these restrictions on retailers. Clever Training should have communicated this better tho. I'll give them a pass once.

Thanks for the info. I guess I've seen disclaimers recently on other retailers' sites about how certain Garmin items are excluded from promotions, but I just assumed the "membership" route was still valid.

Regardless, hope you enjoy the new watch. I feel like I've been waiting for a 630 with an OHRM since the 235 and 630 were released, so I'm eager to receive mine.
  • Has the inclusion of OHRM added bulk to the watch compared with the 630?

Shame about those chunky plastic buttons. The 630 looks nicer IMO.
  • the dimensions are the same, the OHR is a bump out of the bottom of the watch but it syncs into the skin (it's just like the 235)

  • I had a FR235 with OHR, returned it after it stopped working and got a fenix3 instead. I liked the daily monitoring of the OHR UNTIL Garmin reduced the record rate for HR to increase battery life. It then became kind of useless for monitoring daily HR. I really wish they would allow a higher recording rate option for those of us who want more detailed daily HR recording.

If Garmin changes the record rate for OHR I might consider the 735.
