My GPS died

hello guys you are my last hope...first of all.

Things that i already did!

*Reset Watch

*Check and reset garmin EPO((deleting RemoteSW))

*driver up to date (7.10 version)

*sync via garmin express(at least until the previous version, because in the current version of garmin express, it no longer opens "garmin express quit unexpectedly")

*sync via wifi/garmin connect

--Issue Resume:--

My GPS is no longer getting a signal (unless I sit outside for 15-20min)

I think I've done everything.
I already tried reddit (and they were very attentive, but I couldn't solve my problem)

I live in SaoPaulo/Brazil, it didn't matter where I put it to get for a gps signal, it found around 10 sec, now I can't get a signal in less than 15 minutes (outside the house, inside the house it took 30 minutes and I didn't get a signal , so I gave up). I don't know what it could be, I don't want to believe that my watch's GPS signal receiver just died. I asked for help from my friends who have garmin, we went to an open place, and on their watch (3 people and me), the gps signal was captured in less than 20 seconds, except for me, who was without GPS for 10 (so I gave up, because I thought it was absurd in an open area/big city, the gps signal could not be found only on my watch).  This problem started on the 22nd of January (my birthday, haha)..

please check my profile https://connect.garmin.com/modern/profile/danielrds

I put "visible to all" for my activities that caused problems, the discrepancy was very clear on the map. (this is obvious, because the gps signal took a long time to be found, and even then, I believe it did not work properly) . I know we should wait for the GPS signal to be located to start the activity, but I just couldn't wait 20 minutes looking at the sky hoping that the GPS signal would be found.

pleaseee help me for god!

  • From the other thread - Express, to avoid being off-topic :) - My two cents, hoping it could help you:

    • Full-fledged factory reset (Settings -> System -> Reset -> Delete data and reset settings – note: all your activities and settings will be lost) and/or deleting epo.bin from the remotesw directory (followed by a reset), get a new GPS fix and reset again (if all goes well, you should have the following fix in seconds, rather than minutes) but you have done that.
    • Very slow (15-20 minutes) at acquiring a GPS fix, however it is acquired. What does the service menu’s diagnostic say when you run a GPS test? here’s how to get to service menu https://youtu.be/RSXrI1a06Jw
    • Changing GPS mode – Normal (GPS only) / GPS+Glonass (should work best in Sao Paulo) / GPS+Galileo – didn’t change anything.
    • Slow GPS fix, hints at old GPS data, which should be corrected by syncing, although you’ve done that with Garmin Express 7.15.0.0.

Nothing else comes to mind, but to contact a local Garmin dealer (3 are listed in Sao Paulo) www.garmin.com/.../ and see if they can help you (and prepare psychologically for a worst case scenario of R$1,500ish replacement fee - usually around 50% of the retail price for a refurbished unit).

  • I appreciate your help mate :D

I did all this steps and i think didn't worked...but i don't know if I managed the gps test correctly....check image below please

My watch is trying to find the GPS signal for more than 30 minutes and it doesn't find it... I still have to keep pressing the button for it not to go into economy mode.

  • That’s the one (the GPS test, I mean): if you’re doing it outside and, after at least 10 to 15 minutes, you still get that --.-- instead of your current coordinates, I am afraid that your 645 is in need of repair/replacement.

  • I can't understand, how a problem like this can happen with a garmin watch, it's 1 in 1 million. How could there have been a physical problem with the gps receiver :(
